Circuit Year of Prayer

The following events in the Circuit Year of Prayer initiative covered the churches in Plumley,  Alderley Edge, The Welcome, and Mottram St.Andrew and we hope these encouraged people to pray for the communities involved:

Sunday 19th March, at Plumley beginning at 4pm concluded with a Circuit Mission in Britain service at 6pm, when the Preacher was  Rev. Ben Clowes. Tea was served at 5pm.

Saturday 25th March – Circuit Prayer Relay beginning at Plumley around 10am heading from Church to Church, finishing at Over Peover at around 7pm.  The full distance is around 21 miles.

Tuesday 11th April, at Alderley Edge beginning at 6.30pm concluded with Holy Week Prayer and Praise at 7.30pm.

Wednesday 24th May, at The Welcome beginning at 7.30pm.  This session began the circuit’s involvement in ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ (Churches Together in Alderley also joined in this).  This was a national 24/7 prayer initiative supported by the Anglican and Methodist Churches running officially from Ascension Day (25th May) to Pentecost (4th June).  We began on 24th May as it was also Wesley Day.

Pentecost Sunday 4th June, at Mottram St Andrew began with their  annual Open Air Service at 2.30pm on the green followed by refreshments, then prayer around the village.

The Circuit Year of Prayer is set to continue on 10th September when we celebrate the work and witness of Over Peover Methodist Church as it comes to the point of closing for regular worship. We hold the members and friends of Over Peover in our prayers at this time, and give thanks for the congregation there who have faithfully and regularly brought the Good News to the community for over 100 years.

We follow the cycle of the Circuit Year of Prayer through to the end of 2017.

Prayer for the day
For the changing scene all around us as the leaves on the trees have virtually fallen, the gardens are lacking in much colour, and the allotments have yielded their harvest, yet despite the apparent lack of life as the trees and plants rest, there is still growth and colour as the winter plants and vegetables take their turn to show their own growing power.
