October 2022........We had a message in September from the Volunteer who helps with the Teams4U collection of Christmas Boxes, enquiring if we were able to support the charity once again. Leaflets have now arrived, giving all the necessary information, and we are hoping that we will be able to gather together as many boxes as we can - we have supported this Outreach for a good number of years, always happy that we can send  some joy to children in parts of Europe where life is very challenging. This year, T4U are including Ukraine for families in that beleagured country, as fell as to some Ukranian families who have sought relief .......Poland, and Romania, for instance.

If you are able to fill a Box as per the instructions on the leaflet, or even provide some items to add into a box, that would be brilliant.

We understand any boxes we are able to send will need to be collected in by the first week in November. Thank you if you are able to help.

Mission Group thank everyone for their support of the  SHOEBOX APPEAL……..This year we are again supporting the T4U shoebox appeal and 29 boxes have been collected in church and taken to the despatch point in Stockport. These boxes bring real hope and happiness to many deprived children and families at Christmas, please accept our thanks for your support and love for those whose lives are much less than comfortable, and are indeed challenging.

We have recently received a note from a volunteer who works with Teams4U updating us as to the whereabouts of our boxes. She says: “I have just had the final details. This year they distributed 64,061 shoe boxes (51315 in 2018), so were thrilled and far exceeded their target. Our final number from Stockport area was 395, and all went to Romania. They went to 3 areas there, also to Belarus and Bosnia. For the first time a load went to Muldova, and also to Kuma in Uganda, where they support schools and all the summer mission work.      Apparently, more processing centres were set up and several new collection areas like ours. so many, many thanks to those who supported the appeal from your church.”                              ************

One of our Friday Tots’ Mums, and someone who we have known for quite some time, let us know that she was going to South Africa at the end of November to do some work with a charity, called Morning Star Children’s Centre. The Centre works with under-privileged children and young people who, themselves, have HIV/Aids, and whose parents may also have died with this condition, leaving their family to be brought up by grandparents. Some of the young people may have developed very poor eyesight, or have become blind. Elaine asked whether or not anyone in the church might be able to help her by donating knickers, underpants, socks for toddlers and children through to the age 10/11. Between Friday Tots and the church members we collected several bags of items which we trust will be of use to the families in the Morning Star Children's Centre. Thank you for your support!
